Guard Your Soul!

David wrote of this as he wrote this inPsalms;

Psalms

131:1 O LORD, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me. 2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me. 3 O Israel, hope in the LORD from this time forth and forevermore

There is what I would define “a rather random process” involved in selecting my Devotional scriptures each morning. Oh, I dont just close my eyes, fan the pages and point to a verse! But, I do use a reading plan called “The Book of Common Prayer”. This means that the chapters (usually 5 or 6), are pre-selected for me.

What I find amazing is how appropriate the subject matter is to the particular things going on in my life at the time I’m reading!

So it is with the above verses!

David, a simple shepherd rose to the position of King! Even after decades of being the King, he realized that he found it needful to calm and quiet his soul! To realize that certain things are not worth the anxiety they cause. We too often need to examine the issues presently on our plate and determine if they are fruitful or harmful! Sometimes those decisions are not easy!

In the book of John in Chapter 15, John writes that we (believers) have the Comforter (the H.S.) that brings us peace by testifying of JESUS! Are those who are delivering anxiety to your soul testifying about JESUS?
